May 1 until October 5, 2025
Since 1996, the Chursächsischer Sommer has been traditionally opened each year on May 1st in the Saxon State Spa Bad Elster – as a festival celebrating the European spa region. Until October 5, around 300 outstanding cultural events from various genres will take place in the cultural and festival town of Bad Elster, in nearby Bad Brambach, and in around 40 selected venues across the four-country region of Bavaria | Bohemia | Saxony | Thuringia – right in the heart of Europe.
We are particularly pleased that for the year 2025, Alexander Dierks, President of the Saxon State Parliament, and Ivona Valhová, Consul General of the Czech Republic in Dresden, have taken on the patronage of this truly borderless festival.
The radiant „summer residence“ of this successful cultural festival is the cultural and festival town of Bad Elster, which delights audiences with renowned artists and ensembles, as well as a royal supporting program including concerts in the Royal Grounds, wellness offers and culinary delights. Equally important to the festival, however, are the many trusted partners and participating towns whose cultural and touristic contributions shape the vibrant summer spirit of the Chursächsischer Sommer.
The Chursächsische Philharmonie, serving as the Festival Orchestra in Residence, also embarks each year on a cross-border “summer tour” as a true “musical ambassador”, performing in a variety of impressive venues including castles, churches and concert halls.
